JAMB Brochure Key Points

Candidates must follow the guidelines in this Brochure for selecting institutions, and programs, and completing online application forms accurately. Non-compliance with instructions will result in the Board not processing the form. Admission to the chosen program in any institution requires an acceptable performance in relevant UTME subjects. Mandatory UTME subjects for each program are detailed in the JAMB Brochure tables, with “Use of English” excluded to prevent repetition.

General JAMB/ UTME Requirements 2024/2025

Candidates must take the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and achieve a satisfactory score in the Compulsory Use of English and three other subjects relevant to their chosen program. Additionally, candidates must hold one of the following qualifications:

• National Examinations Council (NECO)/West African Examinations Council (WAEC) Senior School Certificate (SSC) or the Senior School Certificate/General Certificate of Education (SSC/GCE) with credit passes in five subjects, including English and Mathematics, obtained in not more than two sittings, unless specified otherwise.
• Grade II Teachers’ Certificate (TC II) with credit or merit passes in at least five subjects (Note: TCII may not be accepted for certain programs in some universities).
• National Technical Certificate (NTC) or National Business Certificate (NBC) from the National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) with credit passes in five subjects, including English and Mathematics, obtained in not more than two sittings.

For Science and Social Science programs, a credit pass in Mathematics is required, unless otherwise stated. Similarly, a credit pass in English Language is required for all programs unless stated otherwise. It’s important to note that matriculated students in any university are generally ineligible to sit for the UTME, except for those transferring from foreign universities.
