Jamb Subject Combination For Pharmacology 2024/2025 & UTME Requirements

To seek admission to the Pharmacy program within the Faculty of Medical, Pharmaceutical, and Health Sciences in Nigeria, you must meet the following criteria:

For UTME Candidates:

  • UTME subject combination: Chemistry, Biology, Physics, or Mathematics.
  • O’level requirements: Credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, obtained in not more than two sittings.

For Direct Entry Candidates:

In UTME, English Language is compulsory for all courses. The required subjects for Pharmacy under the Faculty of Medical, Pharmaceutical, and Health Sciences in the institutions on our list are Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.

O’Level Requirements for UTME Candidates

To study Pharmacy in Nigerian universities, you need five (5) SSC credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.

(i) UNIBADAN requires the O-level Credit passes at one sitting. (ii) UNILAG requires Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in addition to English Language and Mathematics, similar to Medicine.

Requirements for Direct Entry Candidates

For Direct Entry into Pharmacy programs, you typically need three ‘A’ Level passes in Chemistry, Biology/Zoology, and Physics or Mathematics, along with meeting UTME requirements. Here are special considerations for various universities:

(i) BENIN accepts:

  • ‘A’ Level pass in Botany instead of Biology.
  • B.Sc. second class in related programs.

(ii) BENIN and UYO don’t accept an ‘A’ Level pass in Mathematics.

(iii) ILORIN accepts ‘A’ Level pass in Chemistry, Physics, and Biology.

(iv) JOS doesn’t accept Mathematics for Physics. It accepts B.Sc. second class or above in related programs.

(v) LAGOS:

  • Considers very good passes in three JUPEB/’A ‘-level subjects: Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
  • Doesn’t accept B.Sc. degrees.

(vi) NDU:

  • Accepts a first degree in Chemistry or any of the Biological Sciences.
  • Requires ‘A’ Level passes in Physics, Mathematics, or Statistics, Chemistry, and Biology/Zoology/Botany.

(vii) OAU accepts B.Sc. with a minimum of 2nd Class Honours in a relevant program (Sciences).

(viii) OOU accepts Botany instead of Zoology.

(ix) UNN:

  • Accepts three ‘A’ Level passes in Chemistry, Biology/Zoology/Botany, and Physics.
  • Considers Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences, Health Science and Technology, or Medical Sciences with a minimum of second class lower division.
  • Accepts HND upper credit in related fields.

(x) DELSU:

  • Considers first degree in relevant Biological Sciences with at least second-class Upper Division.
  • Accepts passes in Chemistry, Biology (Zoology or Botany), and not more than one sitting in GCE advanced level or Higher School Certificate (HSC).

(xi) BAYERO requires three ‘A’ Level passes in Chemistry, Biology, and Physics. Doesn’t accept NCE.

(xii) ABU accepts ‘A’ level/IJMB passes in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. Also considers a Unified Pharmacy Technician Certificate with a minimum of Upper credit.

(xiii) PHC:

  • Accepts three ‘A’ Level passes in Chemistry, Biology, Physics, or Mathematics.
  • Considers B.Sc. not lower than Second Class Lower in related fields.

(xiv) KASU requires passes in Chemistry, Physics, Biology, or Zoology at Higher School Certificates or advanced level of GCE, IJMB, or equivalents. Also accepts an acceptable First Degree in relevant disciplines.
